Hamburg’s Grand Hotel Bids You a Warm Welcome
Since it was opened on the Alster Lake in 1909, Hotel Atlantic Kempinski has been synonymous with Hanseatic elegance, epitomizing the local way of life. Hotel Atlantic is a luxury hotel with a grand history, and its success is closely linked to the social, political and cultural life in the Hanseatic city of Hamburg. In its own unique way, the 5-star hotel unites the traditional and the modern, representing, now more than ever, exquisite grand-hotel style with European flair in the centre of the vibrant metropolis of Hamburg. Tradition at heart with a view to the future.
New Interior Designs
The 245 rooms and suites of Hotel Atlantic impress with their timeless elegance and grand luxury.
The interplay between handsome grand hotel architecture from the turn of the century and the amenities of modern interiors promises to make every stay special. The interiors of the rooms and suites are varied and individual. A range of decorative elements and subtle colours, perfectly displayed in precious materials and objects d’art, add a very personal note to each and every one of the rooms. Ceilings with a height of up to 4 m (13.1 ft) provide a sense of generous proportions in all room categories. Full-length windows in the rooms with lake views present a panoramic view of incomparable beauty onto the waters of the Aussenalster Lake.
Elegant carpets and silk fabrics in high-grade materials, such as Makassar Ebony, Murano glass and Carrara marble, define the interior and skillfully combine with the modern art and designer furniture. A total of 254 original works by the Hamburg artists Heinke Böhnert and Carsten Westphal have been specially created for the rooms.

It is the jewel among the suites – a gem of Hanseatic elegance and lively tradition. This suite is located directly beneath the hotel’s distinctive feature – the globe carried by caryatids. It is where the hotel’s honourable guests have always resided: personalities, such as Dr Henry A. Kissinger, S.E. Vladimir Semyonov and Neil Armstrong. The “Presidential Suite” can be extended up to an area of 245 sq m (2,637.2 sq ft) and five rooms (with connecting doors and its own hallway). It includes two fully equipped bathrooms made of Nero Marquina marble with rain showers, three separate guest WCs, two master bedrooms, two living rooms, a dining/conference room and a pantry kitchen.
The culinary range on offer in Hotel Atlantic Kempinski provides many moments of pleasure.
The art of cuisine is a large part of this venerable grand hotel’s over 100 years of history. Today’s Atlantic Restaurant takes pride in its founding father whose creativity and innovation knew no limits: Franz Pfordte. At the turn of the century, he was a world-famous restaurateur and is regarded as the inventor of the legendary Atlantic lobster soup, which is now the signature dish delighting the palates of guests from all over the world. The breath of history is also felt in the fashionable hall of the hotel. Its dominating columns, the maritime-inspired frieze above the lifts and the portrait of the Emperor on majolica tiles all serve as reminders of times past. The historic hall has always been a popular meeting place for Hamburg society. A place to see-and-be-seen, along with the neighbouring Art Deco Bar, which enjoys a special atmosphere in the evening. Immerse yourself in a world full of pleasurable moments and experience the culinary variety in our classical and traditional surroundings.
