Luxury hotel description
Far from the restlessness and constrictions of today’s city life, surrounded by forest as far as the eye can see and close to the clouds: This historical site still is as “hoch und froh” (high and merry) as Goethe once experienced it. It is the special feat of this house, to have created out of this unmistakable motif of landscape and architecture, a composition that speaks to all the senses. The Wartburg has retained its friendly hospitality, since the times of the first pilgrims that knocked on its doors. Welcome, service and a good night’s lodging have always been - and still are - a well-kept tradition at the Hotel auf der Wartburg.
Fifty-three individual rooms, designed with imagination will enchant and “capture“ you and make you want to stay. This atmosphere, formed over centuries, has been invaded by contemporary comforts – not ostensibly but perfect, as is to be expected of the castles’ current moving spirits. To watch the sun go down with a glass of vintage wine or to spend a comfortable hour in front of the open fire place will be the perfect end to your day at the Wartburg. Finally content, you will snuggle into our – very different – hotel bed, to be perhaps woken by a cuckoo’s call in the morning. Let your soul come to rest while you relax for a long week-end or during a holiday in the middle of the glorious Thuringian landscape. Our rooms, equipped with TV, radio, telephone, safe, mini bar and wireless internet access, offer all the comfort today’s traveller might ever need.
Now, after ninety years as the „Gasthof für fröhliche Leut“ (guesthouse for merry people) the Hotel auf der Wartburg presents itself once again as a place of comfort, of calm and merriment.
Who thinks of the world of Thuringian specialities as consisting of home-made fried sausages and real Thuringian dumplings will be proven true and surprised at the same time at the Wartburg. For it is the aim of our Chef to present at the same time the true character of these classic dishes and the virtuosity of the Thuringian cuisine. At the Landgrafenstube fresh brook trout and succulent boar roast harmonize perfectly with the richly flavoured castle cuisine made of regional products and inspired by old recipes found at castles and manor houses of the wine-growing districts. At the castle’s tavern “Gadem“ in the second courtyard of the Wartburg the publican and his maidservants await you for a proper feast.
This moment of calm, repose and relaxation is yours alone. The wellness and vitality area is equipped with a Finnish sauna, a quiet area and a spacious southern terrace that offers a spectacular view of the Thuringian forest. At our fitness area you will find a treadmill, cross trainers and a life-cycle ergometer. A fresh water fountain offers refreshing spring water from our own well.
Experience romance at the Wartburg castle, far from today’s prosaicness and surrounded by a sea of whispering tree tops, as you will not find it easily elsewhere.
